Andrew Thorne is a portrait sculptor, who has for 20 years been developing his artistic skills and reputation. Andrew was born and raised in the mountains of West Virginia, where he developed a love for nature and the Arts. He received his BFA in Sculpture from West Virginia University in 2007, traveled to China to study art, and has completed a sculpture residency in Rome, Italy. After attending art classes at West Virginia University and studying with several well-known sculptors, such as Bill Hoppen, Jamie Lester, David Simons, and Brian Craig, Andrew found his true love in sculpture.

Response to his work in clay and bronze has proven so successful, that he now devotes all his artistic endeavors exclusively to sculpture. All of his bronzes are created by utilization of the age-old tradition of the lost wax casting process.

Andrew has created public art work regionally and nationally. He has work in private collections across North America, as well as on public display. His work has often been described as serious, with an extraordinary level of detail. His expressive and accurate portrait commissions, in bronze and cast resin, have received enthusiastic acclaim and have been acquired by both public and private collections.

He is currently working on various public monuments that will be installed throughout the U.S. Andrew currently maintains an active sculpture business with private portrait commissions. He currently resides in Pensacola, FL with his wife and two young boys.

“Art is a way of communicating a message, feeling, or emotion to others. My goal is to maintain traditional art making processes. I hope my viewers feel the emotion in my portraits, that I feel when I am creating them.”
