I was drawn to an unusual pose. Birds sometimes will cool their bodies in the heat of the day by opening their wings in this manner. I saw this pose as guarding. I created this sculpture to represent his guarding over the nocturnal seasons, as shown by the Full Moon design on the front of the base and the half-moon on the backside of the base.
